Advising Help for MDS and BUS Students
Find your campus academic advisor and common General Studies department forms.
Your Roadmap to Graduation Starts Here
Whether you're pursuing a degree in Multi-disciplinary Studies or University Studies, your campus advisor will be your go-to resource for staying on track, choosing the right courses, and meeting graduation requirements.
While students must still follow the UM catalog and meet the requirements for their degree and minors, your advisor will help you plan your path for graduation and navigate procedures and policies.

Get Ready for Advising
MDS and BUS students are assigned an academic advisor at their campus. You must meet with your advisor before priority registration each Fall and Spring semester to review your academic progress, GPA, and course selection.
An advisor hold will be placed on your account that only your advisor can remove. Schedule your meeting early to avoid registration delays.
Want a smooth advising meeting? Start with this advising checklist:
- Schedule your appointment in advance. This gives us time to review your academic progress and prepare to advise you accurately.
- Use the online degree audit in myOleMiss.
- Check the requirements for your three minors in the UM academic catalog.
- Verify or update your anticipated graduation date. View Graduation Date in myOleMiss. This is the date you’ll complete your degree, not necessarily when you’ll participate in commencement.
- Review your transcripts to see if you qualify for the forgiveness policy. Recent updates may benefit you.
- Check your Transfer Equivalency Report to confirm that all transcripts from other institutions have been received. This helps us avoid recommending courses you’ve already completed. (Find the report in myOleMiss Student)
- Write down any questions you want to ask during your appointment.
- Be on time. Appointments are scheduled in 30-minute blocks. If you’re late, we’ll have less time to help and may need to reschedule. If you miss your appointment, you’ll need to reschedule—and availability may be limited.
